I was all on board with this (and I don't even live in a city) until I read this line "There's no oversteer. A non-switchable ESP is like some overzealous H&S officer in a hi-vis."
Yuck... that said if someone could come up with a tune that ups the boost and defeats the ESP I would so rock a version of this with fender flares and white rally wheels

I like the sound of this. I drove a Smart ForTwo a while back, and aside from the horrific transmission, I rather liked it. Something taking the same formula with a decent transmission would be a winner in my books.

I'm sure the aftermarket will defeat the ESP. I hope it won't be too expensive...

I imagine the forthcoming higher-performance variants will offer switchable ESP, along with the usual hot hatch frippery.
